I have attempted your way, but it does not seem to make the situation any
better.
I see that you have placed Publish under Control rather than under UI with
Dialog and Control, so I tried that path but situation did not improve
either.
For your case, do you create 1stFeature_CHECKED defined outside of the
Checkbox control?
By doing so, the checkbox starts off with value checked so I would like to
avoid it, but if you did I may have to follow that.
