[wix-users] Upgrade using Burn with Custom BA

Hi,
Thanks for the answer,
I'm still not quite sure when is the old (cached) BA called with uninstall - is it when the new bundle has a higher version than the one that was installed previously? (we run on a computer that has an old version installed)
Is it reasonable to try and find the old cached BA and replace it with a new one that does support silent install/uninstall?

Thanks in advance,
Roni

Your new Bundle can carry an upgrade of the MSI but your Bundle definitely needs to support silent operations to upgrade correctly.

Subject: [wix-users] Upgrade using Burn with Custom BA

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade my app that was previously installed using custom BA that chained prerequisites and the app's msi.
Doesn't matter whether I try doing a minor upgrade (changing only version number) or major upgrade (changing version number and also product Id), The new BA calls the old one with -uninstall -silent.
Why is that?
My old BA doesn't support silent uninstall? Is there a way around that? Can I just uninstall the msi? Or perhaps do a minor upgrade that doesn't try to uninstall the BA?

Thanks in advance,
Roni (Aron) Fuchs
