Then you likely have another problem: A clean build should work. What's the error?

Bob,

If I had your depth of experience with git, I would know that. 
Nonetheless, cloning didn't help. Thanks for your tip.
I was working under the assumption that the build automation would have prevented such a broken build. So I'm guessing that people who don't need to clear the pull request hurdle don't have such protection.

I'll see what I can do while I'm waiting for the build to be fixed.
