[wix-users] Manual uninstall

Why use a 3rd party tool? If your CA is fubar, make a private copy of your MSI, and use Orca or the likes to suppress the broken CA. Then w/ that tweaked msi, tell windows installer to uninstall it.

yes they did, but I was able to get it through a third party link http://download.softpedia.com/dl/8f69e6113d5daed55c78c8d0b3c7f816/4c2a051e/100018442/software/security/msicuu2.exe

I still use it when I get reports about a QA or dev environment being hosed.

Seems they retired the cleanup util. I did fine another fix utility. I will give that a try. Would still be nice to understand all of it better.

You can use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove all the MSI related data for the hidden msi.

Subject: [wix-users] Manual uninstall

Hi,

Is there a resource out there that explains how the registry keys fit together for the WiX Toolset Bootstrapper and in my case, I have an internal hidden MSI install as well.

I accidentally removed a custom action I was still using and that caused the uninstall to fail. Is there a way to force remove all the remnants of the installer? I normally manually delete certain registry keys, but of course that leaves thousands of entries created by the MSI.

A tool that already does this would be nice, but I would like to understand the relationship between the registry keys/Guids of the bootstrapper down to the internal MSI down to all the MSI's bits and pieces.

Thanks,
Tyrel
