Do you have the needed update installed for Windows 7 to support SHA256?

Hi Nir.

You are right. I do not need the SHA1 as we are Win 7 SP1 and above. Seems to me I can sign everything SHA256.

Windows 7 supports SHA-256 signatures when updates are installed- see Microsoft Security Advisory 2949927.

If you still require SHA-1 signature, make sure that the SHA-1 signature is applied as primary and that the SHA-256 signature is applied as secondary signature.
