Correct. The IIS team ensured the straight forward, easy way won't work. Only hard options--and poorer user experiences--remain.

So if I understand you correctly Rob, there is no way to elevate a MSI package from the start, it will only elevate at Installation process is needed, as you said before, and there is no way to just read what Sites and AppPools is created in IIS without admin rights.

I'm stuck here... pure pain... ;)

So no way to solve this the easy way?
Except for demanding that the user that is doing the installation as a full local admin to be able to install?

I'm not an advanced programmer, and I'm "just" trying to do an installation package for our web application and I HAVE to have it as a msi, per customers demand.
