[wix-users] installer reported by Windows Defender

Thanks Pally. Sorry, I somehow totally missed your posts which is why I
started a new thread, but thanks anyway. I managed to muddle my way through
and the signed installers are not being picked up as malware by Defender
anymore.

I've been using the 2nd method (editing the .wixproj to override targets)

Works pretty well if you have a private key for your certificate (make sure
you are signing using an SHA-2 certificate as SHA-1 is all but deprecated at

It seems that quite a few installers have been hit by this false positive.
I've submitted my installer to Microsoft's Malware Protection Centre for
rescanning. Hopefully that will sort it out.
