[wix-users] Run Burn Boostrapper or the MBA Elevated

I understand and Rob Mensching has had similar answers to many of these questions.

The problem I am encountering is when I do an upgrade, I hit cancel and everything rolls back. Then I launch the old bootstrapper silently to repair to make sure that the system is stable after a fail upgrade. The old bootstrapper at launching asks to be elevated one more time and I don't want the UAC prompt to appear in this scenario. Therefore I have tried to elevate the BA or the bootstrapper so when the BA launch the old bootstrapper, the prompt will not appear.

Burn makes every effort possible to not elevate the bundle until it's needed, and to prevent you from running elevated code. Your bundle should not modify machine state, the engine and installers should.

More definition is needed on what these "some other processes" are in order to provide you with potential solutions. Can you wrap them in a MSI/Custom action? Are they executables you are installing or are they system processes?

Subject: [wix-users] Run Burn Boostrapper or the MBA Elevated

Hello, I would like to run my MBA elevated so that I can launch some other process elevated without having the UAC prompt. From my understanding, either running the MBA or the Burn bootstrapper elevated will serve this purpose. I would like to know if there's a way to do so. I have tried to use the app.manifest file but it doesn't work for me.

Thanks,
