The Preview is not supported for a number of reasons (chief of which, DevDiv can still change everything completely before release).  Probably WiX 3.11/4.0 is the earliest you'll see support.

I hate the name.  Whichever Admin thought of this intentionally wanted to confuse people.

Are you sure that is VS15 not 2015?

I don't have any project templates and when I try to open .wixproj I get unsupported project type. Moreover, I do not see VS15 being supported in the official codebase...

I am using a "released" version (3.10.2) and I can create/open WiX MSI installers and Bootstrapper projects and create C# custom action projects

You mean that you can open WiX projects in VS15? I tried 3.11.0.705 and that does not seem to be the case for me...
