[wix-users] Stub executable does not contain a .wixburn data section - WAT?

I've discovered there are two versions of the package that differ only in the patch version number and yet have different features (so, semantic versioning rules are broken).

The most recent version is 3.10.0.1503 which is a "custom build with support for installing visual studio extensions". The prior version, 3.10.0.1502, has the "official WiX Toolset 3.10 binaries" and that one successfully builds my bootstrapper.

It's quite a mess, there are at least 4 of these unofficial packages on NuGet. There is clearly a need that is not being met by the official toolset.

Oh, that's a surprise! Actually, in Visual Studio's package manager it kind of looks like you're the package owner, but now that you mention it and I've checked on the NuGet web site, it is clearly an unofficial thing. In visual studio, it shows that you and Bob are the "authors" which misled me into thinking that you had published that package. This is the one I've been using: https://www.nuget.org/packages/WiX.Toolset.2015/ Lesson learned: always check the web site :)

The problem does seem to be with the NuGet package though. If I take the burn.exe from the WiX install and copy it over the one in the NuGet, then I get a successful build. So, I guess you're off the hook and I'll have to find a workaround.

I'm kind of taken aback that you don't have a NuGet based offering for people with build servers. I've been using that NuGet package for ages and thought it was an official thing - it works rather well (apart from this burn issue). Checking binaries into source control is so last century! Please don't make us wait until version 4....

We don't ship a NuGet package today. Plan is to introduce one in WiX v4.0.
