I've redistributed that library in my open source project IsWiX for the past 6 years and Rob hasn't come after me yet. :)

If you can't resolve your concerns and all you need to do is query the property table of an MSI, that's pretty easy P/Invoke to just write yourself.   Still, DTF is pretty awesome so I try not to ever reinvent the wheel.

IANAL but you only need to publish the WiX source code if you change it. When you use an official build we publish the code for you here: https://github.com/ wixtoolset

Hello all,

I'm working on a commercial application and considering deploying Microsoft.Deployment.WindowsInstaller.dll with my app because I'm using it to retrieve some information about some msi files.
The only usage I do for now is to open MSI database to read the production version.

What does MS-RL license say about this ?
I'm planning to deploy Wix license file  alongside with my application but do I have to publish the source code of the file using Wix ?
What do you think ?
