Hi Folks,

Thanks for the replies.  The combination seems to be working for my case, but I also set the Sequence attributes to line up in case the two implementations interacted.  I am rather surprised that XmlConfig is newer than XmlFile - it seemed the other way to me.

XmlFile and XmlConfig run at slightly different times.  Having them modify the same file could result in some interesting time problems depending on your authoring.

My understanding is that XmlFile is an older more limited implementation than XmlConfig.  I do not think there is any relation between them as I believe they use different custom actions and different MSI tables.  I don't use both of them but you could confirm those understanding by checking you MSI with Orca.  I think that the install time sequence of the components is what will drive the issue.

Hi Everyone,

I've got a stray question: In editing an xml file, I'm using util:XmlFile in one component to do one set of edits, and util:XmlConfig in another component to conditionally delete an element of the same xml file.  My question is: do the Sequence attributes of the XmlFile and XmlConfig elements have any relation to one another?  Which edit (assuming the condition is satisfied) happens first?
