[wix-users] UAC dialog icon

I wasn't (consciously) doing anything to make it happen but I got a message from our testers saying "it used to do this" (with a screen shot)  and now it doesn't. I have since tried a copy of the old installer (a WiX built MSI) myself and I *don't* see our icon, just the generic one.

Like I said originally, it's a rather cosmetic issue and I have higher priorities right now so I'm going to put this on hold and (maybe) come back to it later.

I don't think you can for a MSI.  If it was a bundle then you have control over it, but since the process requesting elevation is msiexec and not your MSI, you will get the default icon from msiexec.  In the previous version of your install, was it a bundle or some other 3rd party installer like installshield which used an exe to package their MSI?

With a previous version of my installer, the UAC elevation dialog would display our application's icon. In the current build it is only displaying a generic icon.

I have 2 <Icon> elements, one for ARPPRODUCTICON (which refers to an ICO file) and one for a shortcut (which refers to an EXE). ICO and EXE have both changed between versions but otherwise <Icon> elements are unchanged.

The previous version would have been built with WiX v3.7 or 3.8; I am currently using v3.9.

It's only a cosmetic issue but it would be nice to show our icon: any idea why it might have "gone away" or how I can get it back?
